Functional Medicine. S.A, Adv Dip Nutrition S.N.H.S U.K, B.com UNISA is a functional health practitioner who is known as the health detective. She started her career as a diagnostic radiographer (Dip, College of Radiographers U.K). She worked in many academic hospitals in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Europe from 1991 to 2006. Her hospital career came to an end in 2006 due to her poor health and that of her daughter who was born at 25 weeks weighing a mere 560grams. Despite having access to the best conventional medical treatment her health continued to deteriorate. She suffered from IBS, Fatigue, Hashimoto’s, Raynauds, Type 2 diabetes, and GERD. All of these were being addressed as separate diseases! It was a diagnosis of celiac disease for both herself and her daughter by a functional medicine doctor that made her realize that there is a polar opposite approach to conventional medicine that exploits lifestyle and a systems medicine approach to restore health. She embarked on a career change and she studied and qualified in nutrition, functional medicine & Nutrigenomics. She is also a qualified Body Contol Pilates teacher(UK level 3 exercise teacher). Today she runs a functional health practice based in Blouberg Capetown. She is passionate about helping
others that are seeking a real solution for their seemingly unrelated medical complaints. She believes that every patient has a story and without listening to and understanding the patient’s story, health restoration remains elusive. Her areas of interest are Guthealth, Metabolic syndrome, Autoimmune diseases, obesity, Natural Fertility, Hormonal, and Menopause health & Functional movement.

Gerald Dube
Gerald Dube is a certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Brookbush Institute and is currently studying with HFPA to become a certified Nutritional Consultant. He started his fitness journey after having a few struggles navigating teenage-hood in an environment that was not nurturing. He took it upon myself to make some positive life changes and one of them was to prioritize his health. Embarking on a fitness journey can be very difficult with so much conflicting and contradicting information which is out there. As a functional lifestyle trainer my passion is to help people change their lives using the most simple and accessible methods. The Functional training method he uses improves core strength-thus posture, balance, coordination, proprioception, bone density, body composition, biological age and improving overall health and performance

Aleks is a Yoga-Alliance registered and certified yoga teacher (RYT 200) as well as a qualified social worker (B.A.) and social pedagogue (B.A.) specializing in trauma therapy and coaching. She holds a CFTP (Certified Family Trauma Professional) qualification from the Arizona Trauma Institute and is also an accredited and certified Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT tapping) practitioner, a Mindfulness coach and a certified massage therapist. Aleks is a Yoga-Alliance registered and certified yoga teacher (RYT 200) as well as a qualified social worker (B.A.) and social pedagogue (B.A.) specializing in trauma therapy and coaching. With “Calm Yoga and Mindfulness” she offers yoga-based, relaxation-inducing classes at Functionalvitality. These classes induce deep stress release and gentle stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest system), which is vital to counterpart the experience of stress(Parasymphathetic) as well as prevent and alleviate stress-related disease. The classes comprise of a selection of slow and gentle Asana practice (Yoga forms), breathing techniques, self-massage, guided meditation and exercises that are based on the latest stress management research. Calm Yoga and Mindfulness is suitable for every body type and every fitness level.Aleks also offers personalized individual yoga and stress management sessions as well as educational and interactive workshops at Functionalvitality. The practice of yoga played a key role in Aleks’ personal healing journey from toxic stress, childhood and adolescence trauma, dis-ease and chronic pain. She is very passionate about empowering others to reclaim their lives by inhabiting their bodies and finding safety within themselves so that a sense of wholeness can replace feelings of disconnection and fragmentation.
